Atlantis Completes 33 Missions

Thu, 21 Jul 2011 10:08:24 GMT

Having landed successfully at Kennedy, Atlantis has brought to an end the 135-mission career of the Space Shuttle Program. This was the 33rd flight of Atlantis, which made its first launch in October 1985. Some of its landmark missions include the last servicing of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope and construction missions to the International Space Station.Space Telescope and construction missions to the International Space Station.

through pain

Today is another painful day.........   painful because it is so hard accepting 'my best'.     Just feel I wanted to do a much better job, than what I feel I am doing.....    so it pains me.

Trying to just accept my best as good enough.     It is not a big deal, then can hopefully give more to the community.   Hopefully find and spend time with more friends and family members, hopefully find closer friendships.

But for now, try to celebrate and enjoy the journey.   Accept today and that what is - is alright

Hopefully get back to a life in the coming months....so excited

Thoreau

"I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings. In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.(H.D. Thoreau)"

Find the stride

knowing is half the battle.    sometimes i consciously or subconsciously create stories and make grand plans that i then live around.

it is tough for me to be that 'floater in the water' heh... to just accept what comes in each day.   To live in the moment.   sigh, to just be.   Just be.   Then one lives (they say).    It is like running... which I have recently come to enjoy again....    I can be out on a several mile (or km, as they say here) run....    but isn't it funny how it is kinda a known runner's thing (even pÃ¥ norskman!) that the 1st 10 minutes you are 'fighting thru hell' just to keep going.   But if you can make it thru that usually you can settle in and really enjoy the experience.   I have definitely found this to be true --- but perhaps also because I like to start my runs on a slight uphill gradient for some reason....    in any case, back to my point.. I've found on these runs that I can only 'find my stride' where I'm not seeking to adjust or knowing I'm struggling  for short bursts, maybe 20 paces or so, lil more if I'm lucky.   Just so strange --maybe to a perfectionist-- that one can't RUN RIGHT straight outta the box, and every stride.  Every stride, why isn't your form on.   Not that I have that kinda voice, I really enjoy just being outdoors.... but just intriguing to me how difficult in life it is to 'live' (in the moment), as well as on runs, find the stride.

And back to why I even started to write.... it was about heh, forgetting the big master plans that you have consciously or subconsciously set up for yourself, and instead just living today, in the now, as in minute to minute, just being, enjoying, sharing your love with the world.   Smile.

numbers....

if this is true, .. so comical!   phew...   and I wouldn't feel so silly for not knowing mine after 3 yrs.

"Albert Einstein, one of the greatest minds to ever live, chose purposefully not to even memorize his own telephone number. He obviously had enough brain capacity to memorize a short series of numbers, but still, he chose not to. He viewed memorizing these digits as a waste of precious life energy.  Instead, he used this energy to memorize more important things, which lead to revolutionary accomplishments in the field of Physics."

Nice articles on dealing with adversity, being passionate and pursuing your dreams.  Your Nuclear Dreams, by Dominic Soh

Maybe one day I can help with this fight..... so sad to see in 2011 politicians attacking science......  just makes me sick to my stomach.   What purpose does it serve to cut our children off from knowledge?   Science is all about learning about how to understand how things work.   To pluck this from the educational curriculum is completely senseless to me.

self discipline, will power, it's time to up our game

do not let your energy be exhausted by negative thoughts.

focus on the pure, the good, kindness, loving, serving others.   be disciplined.   have will power.   be still.

what you focus on comes to fruition.     every cell in the body aligns......

pluck what is not love, good, unity, strength and let it go from your mind.   do not let anything but positive and love entertain your heart.

step up your discipline.     choose to turn, and turn, and turn, and turn back to the actions and thoughts that you know are good.     take care of yourself and eachother.   let good be enough.

PS: if your current friends do not align, it may be time to make new connections.  support others who are kind and loving toward you.  affirm the good, look for the truth,   choose health, love, good, helping others.

experimenting........

Someone said doing the same thing repeatedly, but expecting different results is insanity.      Or is it human nature?   For whatever reason,  many of us repeat the same silly destructive patterns and yet are totally "surprised" when our expected results do not occur, but instead totally opposite of expected/hoped results......   Oh the wild web we weave.   For me, nothing salacious of course. .....just a recommitment or affirmation again that gee whiz eating healthy, exercising, sleeping and getting work done makes me feel better than the opposite of those actions.

Let me be gentle, I know.....   so I'll end on a favorite or attempt to help spread positivity......    someday I'd like to volunteer to help with sea turtle conservation.

I've noticed when I am sick and depressed, it seems even harder to take good care of oneself.   Of course this is the time when you should be taking the best care of yourself.    How to dig deep and really try to do this?
1. drink water
2. rest
3. stretch
4. try, try, try to eat healthy!!!!
5. think positively
6. bathe, maybe with a nice eucalyptus or oatmeal soother.

What to you want to do before expiring?
What has been checked off your list, and what is next?
Of course enjoying the scenery and beauty of the day is essential..... men, without a next goal, ...  the days may just fly by........  what else do you dream of?

On the should list, perhaps....

"7. Re-balance Your Portfolio
If you already have substantial assets, it's time to make sure they're correctly structured for your priorities. Are your mutual funds allocated the way that you want them, or over time, has one grown faster than the others, leaving your portfolio lopsided (many companies now automatically re-balance, but you should check.) You should also be thinking about your portfolio's life-cycle. If you're in your fifties, you should already be transitioning some of your money to bonds.
I know what you're going to say: you'll never be able to retire at those kinds of returns. My response is a piece of wisdom that I picked up from my driving instructor: "If you left late, you're going to get there late." Trying to flout that simple equation only gets you in trouble. Just as it's a bad idea to race through red lights in the hopes of making up the lost time, it's a bad idea to leave your assets in 100% equity because you're hoping that higher returns will still let you retire in comfort at 65. Risking destitution now is just compounding your earlier planning errors.
8. Make a Will
If your finances are pretty simple, you can do this in half an hour with something like Quicken Willmaker, which took Lifehacker half an hour. LegalZoom will also do it for you for a pretty modest fee. If your finances are complicated -- well, OK, this won't take under an hour, and you need a lawyer. But if your finances are complicated, you really need a will. If it freaks you out too much to meditate upon your own death, pretend that you are preparing this will so you can drop out of sight and assume your new identity as Agent 007 of Her Majesty's Secret Service."

Also, some fitness dreams.... why not train for a 10K or half marathon?      Can also put on the list the desire to do the bike from DC to Mt. Vernon.     Or other trails....  plenty of beautiful trails to explore, I think.

Focus E 15,000

Well, I sure have made a mess out of many days the last couple weeks.     Luckily, nothing too obnoxious has resulted, ...... but just makes me want to try to learn to refocus, be calm, centered and act right.

One source talks about reaffirming what is good, true, right repeatedly.     -- saying that we are exposed to 15,000 advertisements a day to get us to nudge toward buying a product or service.       And that we must nudge our minds in a similar way, daily toward peace, calm, kindness, acting from love.    Daily, 15,000 repeatedly.

Further.....   to be clear, this way of life is despicable.   Let me be awake and focused so as not to be a part of it: "The women reside on a continuum in which injuries are assumed and insults are expected."

letting go

.... i've found that there is one area of life that is simply beyond our control.       you know what i'm talking about.   amore.

ninety nine percent perspiration can be given.....    but there is at least 1 percent that is just not in your control.... i guess one can only give her 99%.   give freely, place an intention out there.    make an effort, try.

And maybe enjoy trying.  Learn from trying.    Enjoy giving, presenting one's 99......

Perhaps this has relevance too, supposedly from Einstein (but I haven't bothered to affirm) "No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it"

Just breathe, let go and be present in the moment.

easier said than done, but just keep trying.  just keep trying.

Your attitude in life determines the altitude you'll achieve

So keep a positive one, and aim high, even when a part of you wants to stay behind on the couch or in the bed.

Rest, yes, but keep planning for flights to take you far.

So, putting that to practice in my life....... the trip out was fine... now to make sure I didn't sacrifice my chance to stay on task... by now keeping my nose to the grindstone when I'd rather be watching a movie or taking a drink.

You can do it, you can do it!   Keep working!   You are doing a good job!

finding a voice

Tonite I feel some frustration, because I tried to speak up for myself, I did.... but it wasn't heard and the other person 'won' or got what was initially suggested.   I agreed to it after speaking up and what I said wasn't even considered.     So it is 'on me'.     It's totally not a big deal at all......     just a totally 'small pie' sorta thing, but the concept is frustrating to me, because it represents the way things go in larger decisions/areas in my life.

hmmm........  this is the best I see related to this issue right now.....
