dig deep

I've noticed when I am sick and depressed, it seems even harder to take good care of oneself.   Of course this is the time when you should be taking the best care of yourself.    How to dig deep and really try to do this?
1. drink water
2. rest
3. stretch
4. try, try, try to eat healthy!!!!
5. think positively
6. bathe, maybe with a nice eucalyptus or oatmeal soother.

friendship with oneself

Pema Chodron - advises to work toward unconditional friendship with yourself.   Do not struggle against the hardships and pain in your life, accept it, make peace.   Support yourself unconditionally.  Be kind to yourself.
Be a friend toward yourself, so that you can best be present for others.

"I think the advice I would give to anyone considering a career in math or science is just work at it.   Be passionate about everything you do, and I just don't mean math and science in general but be passionate about life.  You only have this one opportunity to live your life and to live your dreams, so live it to the fullest.  And when you are passionate about what you do others will see it"

What to you want to do before expiring?
What has been checked off your list, and what is next?
Of course enjoying the scenery and beauty of the day is essential..... men, without a next goal, ...  the days may just fly by........  what else do you dream of?

On the should list, perhaps....

"7. Re-balance Your Portfolio
If you already have substantial assets, it's time to make sure they're correctly structured for your priorities. Are your mutual funds allocated the way that you want them, or over time, has one grown faster than the others, leaving your portfolio lopsided (many companies now automatically re-balance, but you should check.) You should also be thinking about your portfolio's life-cycle. If you're in your fifties, you should already be transitioning some of your money to bonds.
I know what you're going to say: you'll never be able to retire at those kinds of returns. My response is a piece of wisdom that I picked up from my driving instructor: "If you left late, you're going to get there late." Trying to flout that simple equation only gets you in trouble. Just as it's a bad idea to race through red lights in the hopes of making up the lost time, it's a bad idea to leave your assets in 100% equity because you're hoping that higher returns will still let you retire in comfort at 65. Risking destitution now is just compounding your earlier planning errors.
8. Make a Will
If your finances are pretty simple, you can do this in half an hour with something like Quicken Willmaker, which took Lifehacker half an hour. LegalZoom will also do it for you for a pretty modest fee. If your finances are complicated -- well, OK, this won't take under an hour, and you need a lawyer. But if your finances are complicated, you really need a will. If it freaks you out too much to meditate upon your own death, pretend that you are preparing this will so you can drop out of sight and assume your new identity as Agent 007 of Her Majesty's Secret Service."

True Grit

... nice movie...       And snippet of a thought - grit is defined as "a willingness to commit to long-term goals, and to persist in the face of difficulty."    Yes.

dreams.....

Earlier this week I was starting to feel like what the heck did I do with my latest life committment.....  but there are some dreams I could work on in the DC area.    Why waste G's on rent when the market is such that one  could potentially acquire a little studio or bungalow for the same price or less than rent!   .... fire inside ....

Also, some fitness dreams.... why not train for a 10K or half marathon?      Can also put on the list the desire to do the bike from DC to Mt. Vernon.     Or other trails....  plenty of beautiful trails to explore, I think.

Decide on a car.....    lil fun and practical like a golf... or elantra...  at the wildest an is

Focus E 15,000

Well, I sure have made a mess out of many days the last couple weeks.     Luckily, nothing too obnoxious has resulted, ...... but just makes me want to try to learn to refocus, be calm, centered and act right.

One source talks about reaffirming what is good, true, right repeatedly.     -- saying that we are exposed to 15,000 advertisements a day to get us to nudge toward buying a product or service.       And that we must nudge our minds in a similar way, daily toward peace, calm, kindness, acting from love.    Daily, 15,000 repeatedly.

Further.....   to be clear, this way of life is despicable.   Let me be awake and focused so as not to be a part of it: "The women reside on a continuum in which injuries are assumed and insults are expected."
